2021 America the Beautiful Silver Uncirculated Coins

The 2021 America the Beautiful Silver Uncirculated Coins will include the last strike of the original America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin™ series. Currently, only one coin is scheduled to be released as part of that series, the 2021 Tuskegee Airmen America the Beautiful Silver Uncirculated Coin which features a reverse design emblematic of the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site located in the state of Alabama.

Coins of the silver uncirculated series are struck as the numismatic versions of the US Mint’s America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coins™. As such, they feature the same basic specifications including a composition of five ounces of .999 fine silver and a diameter of three inches.

They also feature the same basic imagery as the bullion coins, which is actually originally designed for a third US Mint series – the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Both the quarters and the bullion coins were authorized as part of the America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008.

Under the terms of the act, a total of fifty-six coins would be issued in each series. As these uncirculated coins are the numismatic versions of the bullion coins, fifty-six are featured in this series as well.

Each coin of their respective series honors a different site of national interest from around the United States and its territories with one strike representing a site in each state, the District of Columbia and the five US territories. The order of release for the coin is dictated by the order in which the specific site came under the direct control of the federal government.

A stipulation in the authorizing legislation for the quarters and bullion coins allows that the Secretary of the Treasury may extend the quarter series for another complete run of fifty-six coins. If this option is chosen, the related bullion coins and these uncirculated coins may also be continued.

The Treasury Secretary must make the determination to continue the quarters by the end of the ninth year of the program, or 2018.

Details on the chosen 2021 America the Beautiful Silver Uncirculated Coin site is shown below:

Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site

The Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site is located in Tuskegee, Alabama. It was officially established on November 6, 1998.

The site commemorates the important contributions of the World War II African American airmen trained at the location to the success of the United States during the war. These men were the first African Americans to become military aviators in the United States armed forces.
